Glossary

Climate risk assessment and adaptation planning is a genuinely ‘transdisciplinary’ process. People with different backgrounds, different experience, and different training will work together. When this happens, people will interpret certain terms or phrases differently. Some terms will also be completely new to some people (for example, ‘transdisciplinary’!). Here, we present a glossary of key ‘jargon’ terms that we will often use. Once this glossary is complete, we hope that it will provide a useful resource to anyone interested in our project and clarify our definitions of key jargon.

The need for this glossary was identified in our first project workshop. We developed a preliminary list of terms that require definition, which are listed below. Currently, we are working on a survey to understand how project participants interpret these terms, which in turn will help us to define these terms. We also expect this list to expand throughout our project.
